Java Programmer

Optrak Distribution Software is a software technology company specialising in the development and customisation of large-scale transport management and vehicle routing systems. Our leading-edge application manages the complex activity of transport planning; calculating routes for drivers and assigning times to customer deliveries, communicating with on-board computers and providing real-time information across the organisation.

Our systems combine a Rich GUI workstation application, back-end servers and services for computation and data management and a web server for thin client access.

Programming is predominantly in Java but we also make use of the Grails/Groovy platform, SQL databases, MDX/OLAP for data analysis and MS Office tools for data presentation.

You will need a flexible approach as you will be expected to work in a variety of programming-related areas, including:

  • Programming
  • Business component implementation
  • Client customisation
  • Operations Research
  • Data analysis
  • Problem solving

Key Skills and Experience

We are looking to expand our development team with both recent graduates and applicants with a couple of years experience in a programming role. Successful candidates will be highly motivated and able to work well within a small team. You should possess:

  • Strong programming background, including Java and object-oriented design
  • An excellent postgraduate or graduate qualification, ideally in mathematics, computing or engineering
  • Flexible attitude
