Tillery Valley Foods selects Optrak vehicle routing software to increase operational efficiency and reduce carbon emissions

Optrak Distribution Software Limited today announced that its vehicle routing software has been selected by Tillery Valley Foods (TVF), the leading supplier of chilled and frozen prepared meals to the healthcare sector, to introduce greater operational efficiency and its reduce carbon emissions.

TVF, part of the Sodexo Group, has developed its expertise in food technology to help clients in the healthcare and education sectors cook prepared chilled and frozen meals. TVF is committed to running an efficient fleet and minimising the impact it has on the environment. A key part of this strategy is the implementation of vehicle routing software to ensure the vehicle fleet travels the fewest kilometres whilst still fulfilling customer service requirements.

After a detailed evaluation of three competing solutions, TVF selected Optrak's advanced vehicle routing system. Andy Keohane, Logistics Manager, Tillery Valley Foods commented, "We have a complex operation with a large multi temperature product range and were looking to introduce more accurate transport planning. Optrak has an established reputation in the food and drink industry and it was clear that they understood our needs and could help us apply industry best practice to the efficient management of our fleet, thus reducing both our costs and carbon emissions."

The Optrak software will be used to plan centrally for a main depot based in Gwent and two outbases. Optrak is proven to enable significant benefits to be achieved in key areas such as reduced transport costs, greater fleet and fuel efficiency, better allocation of vehicles and minimised impact on the environment.

Tim Pigden, Managing Director Optrak commented, "Reducing the corporate impact on the environment via a reduction in carbon emissions is now a key goal for many companies. By implementing vehicle routing software TVF will gain greater transport efficiencies whilst raising customer service levels and enhancing its environmental and social reputation."

"TVF are proud to have exceeded our Climate Change Levy targets for the last three years. With Optrak's help, we can avoid unnecessary transport miles, reduce our fuel consumption and vehicle emissions thereby contributing to the Government sustainability targets," Keohane concluded, "The flexibility of the Optrak software means that we can use it to drive our distribution operations the way we want, rather than having to adapt to how the software works which was a key consideration in our evaluation."
